Performed and improvised using two microphones, 3 cymbals, some mallets and delay and reverb.
I wrote these tracks with nothing but listening in mind. They are a personal experiment in the exploration of electro acoustic recording techniques as well as tonal and textural experiments with cymbals primarily used in a jazz drumming setting merged with electronic processing equipment.
I didn’t write these tracks with the intention of releasing them, but I feel that with a lot of us staying at home or working from home in the coming weeks, this music could accompany quiet moments of reading or reflection or relaxing or could simply serve as small moments of mental transportation with headphones on. I intended for this music to be listened to passively, or actively without pressure - you can zoom in on these sounds as much or as little as you wish. There is hidden detail in the mystery of the cymbals and acres of harmonic detail, but also a calming wall of sound that can be enjoyed quietly and without pressure to focus and analyse.
I hope you enjoy them, give the tracks time and see what happens :) Take care - Calum
